Vrboska: The town of Vrboska is located at the north coast of the island Hvar. Surrounded by extensive pine forests Vrboska is a peaceful and tranquil resort not far from Starigrad and Jelsa. Guests looking for active or relaxing holidays can be adequately catered for. The neighbouring village Jelsa is the ideal starting point for bicycle and walking tours as well as boat trips of all kinds. With its length of 70km Hvar is the longest island in the Adriatic Sea. Situated behind the island of Brac, Hvar lies in the sea like an amphore. The main town of the same name and the old town were founded in the antiquity by the Greeks. Many historical buildings show evidence of the following rulers: Byzantium, Venetia, Republic of Dubrovnik, France and Austria. Hvar is considered the sunniest island of the Adriatic Sea. The mild climate from spring until late autumn guarantees to its visitors a relaxing stay as well as ocean bathing until late autumn. Cypresses, pines, olive and fig trees as well as the wild lavender and vineyards caracterise the landscape of the island. With innumerous pebbly and rocky beaches, you won't have any trouble finding a quiet spot to yourself. |
